In 1472 the Portuguese discover the mouth of Komo one of the many rivers of Gabon. As from this date, many pioneers opened the way towards what will become Gabon of the year 2000.

A modern state, 8 great ethnic groups, which make the Gabonese Nation.

A territory of forests, savannas, infinite beaches which offer a fauna and a flora endemic, envied, studied, explored by the largest researchers in very eclectic fields, and make this country, a region to be visited and revisit, a country with Strange Tourism.

AKANDA

Surface : 540 km²
Localization : Province of the Estuary, in the North-East, near to Libreville. Border bay of Mondah and bay of Corisco
Characteristic : greatest concentrations of migratory birds of Gabon

MONTS BIROUGOU

Surface : 690 km²
Localization  : Province of Ngounié. In the south of the solid mass of Chaillu, site named according to the mount Bigourou (Altitude: 975 meters)
Characteristic : Landscapes of mountain, forest refuge of a great biological richness

IVINDO

Surface  : 3000 km²
Localization  : Province of Ogooué-Ivindo. Located between Ogooué and Ivindo, downstream from Makokou
Characteristic : Impressive elephants, gorillas, water falls of the forests of Africa

LOANGO

Surface  : 1550 km²
Localization  : Province of the Ogooué Maritime. Located between the lagoons Nkomi and Ndogo
Characteristic : Loango is the natural jewel of all the West African Coast. Elephants on the beach, hippopotamuses surfant on the waves and, at sea ballet of the humpback whales


LOPE

Surface : 4970 km²
Localization : Along the Ogooué river, located at the junction of Ogooué-Ivindo, Ogooué-Lolo and  Moyen--Ogooué
Characteristic : Landscape of mosaic of forest and savanna. Greatest concentrations of mandrills, the traces of the human dating of more than 400.000 years. First surface protected from Gabon, Lopé is a critical site of the UICN and is proposed for classification in site of the world inheritance

MAYUMBA

Surface  : 80 km²
Localization  : South of Nyanga. Language of sand located at the southernmost end of Gabon, of Mayumba at the border of Congo
Characteristic : First site of the world for the laying of the leatherly turtles

MINKEBE

Surface : 7560 km²
Localization   : Province of Woleu-Ntem. Located at the extreme North-East of the country, in an uninhabited forest solid mass
Characteristic : Rock domes overhanging the forest, the largest uninhabited forest block of Gabon

MONTS DE CRISTAL

Surface : 1200 km²
Localization : Limit of the Estuary and Woleu-Ntem. Located at 3 hours of Libreville. Located in the assembly line re-elected, between Equatorial Guinea and Ogooué
Characteristic : Zone of the forest richest in species of plants in Africa.

MOUKALABA-DOUDOU

Superficie : 4500 km²
Localization : Province of the NYANGA. Located in the south-west of the country, covering part of savannas of Nyanga and the forest solid mass of the Doudou mounts
Characteristic : Last populations da fauna, with the cobe defassa and the jackal

MWAGNE

Surface  : 1160 km²
Localization : Province of Ogooué-Ivindo. Located at the East of Makokou, between the rivers Lodié and Louyaé, to the border of Congo
Characteristic : Largest bai (clearing) of Gabon, where gorillas and elephants abound

PLATEAUX BATEKE

Surface  : 2050 km²
Localization : Province of Haut-Ogooué. Located at the south of savannas of the Batéké plates, in their uninhabited part.
Characteristic : Gorillas accustomed to the human presence, an exceptionally various avifauna. Last refuge of the large mammals on the plates


PONGARA

Surface  : 870 km²
Localization : Province of the Estuary. Located on left bank of the Estuary of Komo, opposite Libreville and on the Atlantic frontage
Characteristic : Beautiful beaches and Mangroves opposite Libreville, site of leisures for the townsmen

WAKA

Surface : 1070 km²
Localization : Located in the solid mass of Chaillu, between Fougamou and Lopé.
Characteristic : 100 km length major fault in forest in the middle of the country. Very mountainous part. In the middle of the Mitsogho country, heart of yesterday of an only Gabonese culture.
